PRESS RELEASE
Melbourne rock fans brace yourself for a hard rock onslaught! Following
up on the success of last years SOLD OUT "MONSTERS OF ROCK", the Spearment
Rhino Gentlemen's Club, Pearl Drums and Zildjian Cymbals proudly present
"MONSTERS OF ROCK II" on Saturday November 20, 2004 at the HIFI BAR &
BALLROOM.
This year fans will get to relive the classic rock tracks of yesteryear
by KISS, Guns 'n' Roses, Ozzy Osbourne & Pearl Jam courtesy of some of
the countries finest tribute shows.
KISStroyer has endured another hectic year since last years event with
the bands list of achievements ever growing. A national live performance
on Channel 10's Good Morning Australia, sold out shows in towns and cities
all over Australia and attracting multi-national corporate sponsors and
endorsees is all in a days work for this professional outfit. The KISStroyer
show is huge; backed by wall full of Marshall's, a huge functional KISS
light up logo, Spearmint Rhino stunners in close tow and all the fire
breathing, blood spitting and guitar smashing mayhem that brought fame
to the KISS name. The show is so accurate musically and theatrically it
even prompted KISS legend Bruce Kulick's two thumbs up and endorsement
on a recent tour!
"APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION" was one of the most influential rock albums
of the late 80s, and for each of the five members of this awesome Guns
'n' Roses tribute act, it was this album that defined their own careers
as musicians. It was only fitting that this beautiful re-incarnation of
the Guns 'n' Roses Show inherited the same name. The band has been on
a steady diet of shows nationally and are ready to strut their stuff on
the big HIFI Bar stage.
WAR PIGS are true mainstays in tribute band circles. For over 6 years,
this awesome band has brought to life the eeriness of Ozzy Osbourne &
Black Sabbath. One look at front man Darren (Ozzy) , and you know you
are in for a wild one! The band has a recorded live cd and played on the
same bills as legends like Pegasus and The Angels. DO NOT MISS THIS!
Even Flow are Melbourne's fantastic tribute to Pearl Jam. Members Mark,
Tony, Franky, Manny & Charlie have been masters at their particular crafts
from early ages. This has greatly contributed in faithfully reproducing
that classic Seattle sound. Watch the boys strut their stuff belting out
classic Pearl Jam songs like Alive & Daughter!

What a big month it has been for KISS and KISStroyer
alike. Spurred on by the recent Rock the Nation tour, band activity accelerated
into overdrive!
First stop - front page news in the major journal around Melbourne’s South
East. Heavily promoting KISS’ Rock The Nation Tour at the Brass show there
were KISS concert ticket giveaways and tour posters on offer. In the words
of the great Paul Stanley, things were definitely hot inside as a two
hour show of classic KISS was the order of the day on a cold, wet and
windy Melbourne night.
Next we were contacted by an undisclosed source to host and organise a
KISS after party to be hosted at Shamiana restaurant after the second
Melbourne KISS concert. Numbers were limited and the package offered included
a Heaven concert ticket and access to the after party. Gene Simmons and
Eric Singer were in attendance on the night and all that attended had
a great time.
Our recovery party at The Metro the following week capped off a brilliant
week of KISS for Melbourne fans.
For those in attendance were to witness a pyrotechnic and lighting spectacle
unmatched by other venues.
All this was naturally the cream on the cake of a yet another great performance.
All this amidst classic KISS footage on a giant screen, beautiful Spearmint
Rhino girls and merchandise as far as the eye could see (brought to you
by STRIKE).
Before the group could catch their collective breath, we were all boarding
Virgin Airlines to head north to the sun and fun of the Gold Coast. Belting
out another two hour set for the fans of the Sunshine State and being
assisted onstage by the beautiful “Players Showgirls” - it was a tiring
weekend for more reasons than one!
The "rocket ride" continued upon landing back in Melbourne. Leading into
the much anticipated Mercury Lounge debut on the Friday night, Good Morning
Australia contacted the band and organise an early Friday morning live
telecast of “Sure Know Something” across the nation (why on Earth does
TV land wake so damned early in the morning though? haha). With energy
levels deteriorating after a huge month and a very long day (the band
was up from 5am) the boys would have been forgiven for a lacking performance
that night. But this was not the case though and we're sure the packed
Mercury Lounge would lay testament to that. With no logo, no girls, no
pyro, no guitar smashing, no fire breathing and no smoking guitar (thanks
to the Crown Casino red tape and policies) the band stepped up to challenge
delivering our best performance to date. In true KISS style, we burst
onto the stage with 'I Stole Your Love' and powered through a great mix
of classic KISS hits to a huge crowd which was whipped into a frenzy!
We would like to thank everyone for their loyal support and help. Now,
we eagerly look forward to Geelong! See you all there!
What a night for rock 'n' roll! We are sure that every
single person who crammed into yet another packed out KISStroyer show
will lay testament to that!
From the moment the doors opened the crowd were treated to classic rock
tracks of yesteryear, an astonishing amount of KISS merchandise from KISS
Strike, our very own smaller line of KISStroyer merchandise (check our
online store coming soon!), an axe bass giveaway raffle thanks to Cam
at Alive Guitars, stunning Spearmint Rhino girls mingling, celebrities
roaming around the VIP and that was all before the first band kicked off!
Then came Warning Sign with magical guitar work and some fantastic renditions
of Ozzy, Iron Maiden and Dio classics. They certainly warmed up the quickly
filling down stairs area.
In Halen hit the stage with classics like Panama, Hot for Teacher and
Jump which really got the crowd ready for the knockout punch.
Prior to hitting the stage the a chant of "KISSTROYER" went up, only to
have the band literally explode onto the stage with the classic Deuce/Strutter
combination and some brilliant pyrotechnics!
Backed by their awesome wall of Marshall stacks and huge KISS light up
logo, this show had all the makings of a mini KISS concert, including
the atmosphere (the crowd were amazingly loud and the party was just beginning).
Some rarities popped up like "Is That You?" , "Unholy", "Parasite", "100,000
Years" and "Hotter Than Hell". Ace smoked up the stage with a blistering
rendition of the classic 1977 guitar solo and if that wasn't enough the
Rhino dancers helped deliver in I Was Made For Lovin' You, driving the
crowd totally wild!
Melbourne is definitely the home of rock 'n' roll and as much as we love
being on the road and seeing different places there is truly nothing like
being home. We eagerly look forward to the next few months with a big
show at THE BRASS on April 29 at Fountain Gate. This will be followed
by a series of KISS Recovery Parties in a few locations around the country
following the great news of the KISS TOUR! Look out in the dates section
and on the streets for these ones, as they will be huge.
Before we sign off we would like send special thanks to the Ray & Moose
at A1 Audio (you guys f#ckin rock!), Nico @ STRIKE, Warning Sign, Sandra,
Fiona, Heather, Doc McVincent, Daniel (who helped load in) and our good
friends down at Spearmint Rhino and Dane Centre!
The replies came fast and furious as KISS fans around
Melbourne flocked to submit their entries for the KISStroyer Grand Prix
competition in Beat magazine last Wednesday. After going through all of
the entries and contacting the lucky winners we are now able to allow
everyone else the opportunity to see who won the prizes on offer. The
winners are:
Cindy Mamakos
Dean Boswell
Mark Lafferty
Brendan Flight
Leigh White
Each of these winners will receive free double passes for the KISStroyer
show on Sunday!
Don’t forget that amongst the mayhem of three bands on the night there
will also be fantastic KISS merchandise on sale from worldwide KISS fan
club Strike not to mention the new KISStroyer merchandise as well!
The Spearmint Rhino proudly presents the Grand Prix
After Party featuring KISStroyer, teaming up with In Halen (Melbourne’s
very own tribute to early Van Halen) and Warning Sign (playing a special
one off all 80’s hair metal covers set).
KISStroyer will be loading their full arsenal including the wall full
of Marshall stacks, huge two meter 1977 KISS light up logo, 12 classic
KISS guitars, stunning dancers from the Spearmint Rhino, two hours of
classic KISS tunes, blood spitting, fire breathing, enough pyro to light
up the night sky, and all the other guitar smashing mayhem that brought
fame to the KISS name over 30years.
On the night there will be door giveaways, KISS & KISSTROYER merchandise
for sale, the raffling of a Gene Simmons Axe Bass as well as a celebrity
watch alert - as these events have been known attract some of our countries
more notable sports stars in the upstairs VIP lounge in the past. Get
in early as the last Melbourne event was a lock out!
The year got off to a flying start for the band with
another strong performance north of the border. Fresh faces were aplenty,
coupled with loyal fans who made the three hour trip to Mulwala for a
rock 'n' roll party. The vocal crowd was treated to a set list that featured
a few surprises, many of which were requests made in recent weeks via
e-mail and in person on the night. Classics such as Unholy, Parasite,
I'm A Legend Tonight and Hotter Than Hell helped whip the crowd into a
frenzy!
A huge thank you goes out to the kind people of Victoria and New South
Wales who either live in or were visiting Mulwala / Yarrawonga over Australia
Day long weekend. Your kind praise and enthusiasm is what keeps the show
alive and getting bigger, better and stronger!
With the first show over, the band and crew are looking forward to the
Grand Prix Afterparty with baited breath - all indications are that it's
to be a real cracker!
Help welcome KISStroyer back to Melbourne at the Grand
Prix after party. After a 4 month break from the Melbourne scene, in which
the band has been busy touring regionally & interstate, KISStroyer is
ready to serve up a lethal combination of classic KISS on a huge stage
backed by a wall full of Marshall’s, a rack full of classic KISS guitars,
that huge KISS light up logo, some eye candy courtesy of the Spearmint
Rhino and enough pyro to light up the night sky. On top of this Melbourne's
very own tribute to Van Halen, In Halen, will open up along with a special
one off 80s metal tribute show by Warning Sign making it a classic night
for rock & race fans alike.
